Jim Corbett National Park is synonymous with Tigers. Situated in the dense jungle in Nainital, this has always been the attraction for Tiger sighting and Bird Watching. The Park has an amazing bird diversity which is host to over 50 species of resident and migratory birds.

Bird watching in Corbett National Park is growing in numbers as it makes people blend with “Mother Nature” with only the wilderness as the company. The Corbett tiger reserve spreads over 1288 Sq. Kms, spreading over two districts namely: Nainital and Pauri. There are very few National Parks which boasts of such a diverse terrain including the wet and dry regions, followed by the plain lands and the Mountains. Gentle and rugged lands followed by forests and grasslands leads a vivid colour fest which cannot be found anywhere else other than in Nature.

It is always advised by experts that carrying Binoculours, water and a Camera for documentation purpose are the basic tools to take on a Birding tour. Some rare migratory birds which have been sighted are : Brown Fish Owl, Himalayan Kingfisher, White-Capped Redstarts, Alexandrine Parakeet, Stork-billed Kingfisher, Great Indian Hornbill, Magpie and two Vultures. It has also been observed that at times different species of Birds are also sighted even though Corbett National Park is not their destination. One such example is the White Throated Kingfisher. Some of the common birds are: Peacock, Kaleej Pheasant, Black Partridge, Pallas’s fishing, Eagle, White Collared Falconet, Stork Billed Kingfisher, Wall Creeper, Brown Fish Owl, Brown eared and Black Bulbul, along with several species of woodpeckers and Parakeets.
